Epidaurus, Nafplio & Mycenae
Take a step back from the modern world and enter into the land of gods, emperors, and gladiators, in this full-day tour of ancient Greece. Step inside the famous Epidaurus theatre, which is renowned for its perfect symmetry and exceptional acoustics, and the Archeological Museum of Epidaurus, opened in 1909 to display ancient artifacts unearthed from the surrounding area.
Next you will head out to the beautiful seaside town and former capital of Greece, Nafplio. A short walking tour will take you to the Venetian Fortress of Palamidi, which sits like a crown overlooking the town below, and the fortified rock island of Bourtzi. Have your lunch in a charming waterside café, a prime location to watch the passing boats on the gently rocking sea.
The afternoon will continue on across the rolling landscape of Argos, decorated by groves of olive and orange trees, until you arrive at Mycenae. This archeological site was once a major centre of Greek civilization and is home to the Tomb of Agamemnon, the Mycenaean citadel, and the Lion Gate.
